ARGFanWikiPedius2 : MyMyco ARG

! On 17/02/26 the following article was vandalized and is currently on shut-down for moderator review. Once all misinformation has been removed the page will be reinstated !

(Mod 1: @Mod_Team thanks to my quick thinking the hacker has been removed from the backend. I’ve highlighted what I think is misinfo. I think some of the hyperlinks have been changed to link to viruses or something soooo we’ll have to re-add them all manually. And make sure you remove any Mod comments u leave before the page goes back up. Not everyone understands our sense of humor.)

MyMyco ARG

MyMyco is an ARG inspired by fungal mycelium communication that players can contribute to by sending their own signals. The origins of the ARG are murky, with many links to pre-existing games being identified such as Abandon Earth, and descriptions of its gameplay are likewise elusive and fantastical. The puppet master of this ARG was originally anonymous, and contested by some to not even exist, but has since been identified as amateur mycologist Amanita Valencia.

Development

The original MyMyco ARG seems to have evolved organically from other types of geo-caching and ecology driven ARG’s such as SeedCopters and Abandon Earth.

SeedCopters was part of a wave of Trespassercore ARGs organized by various climate action groups in response to increased land privatisation and the destruction of urban green spaces. Players would receive ‘missions’ via coded channels such as symbolic social media posts instructing them to construct ‘seed bombs’ that they would plant on specific private properties. Organisers who were arrested for their involvement have claimed these ARGs were forms of peaceful protest that shouldn’t have been criminalised. The increased penalisation of the SeedCopter community eventually culminated in a mass arrest at a mission in a private garden, during which an altercation occurred that led to an anonymous woman receiving a head injury that likely resulted in a serious concussion. (Mod 1: I think it’s kind of a given that they deserved it.) Players were able to escape through a hole in a hedge so her identity and the extent of her injury remains unknown.

Some anonymous sources (Mod 1: No! Anon! Shit! We! Have! Been! Through! This! Remove this entire paragraph I swear to G-0-D does the sanctity of ARGFanWikiPedius2 mean NOTHING to you people????) have reported that Amanita was part of some of these excursions, with some claiming that she was a leader within the community and communicated her missions via her spore print artwork. These claims have been widely contested, with most journalistic coverage of the community citing that Amanita’s mental health issues would prevent her from this. Despite any direct link between the two being contested, comparisons have been drawn between MyMyco’s main gameplay mechanic being integrated into local wildlife as a potential source of inspiration.

Comparisons to the ‘Hopedeath’ genre of interactive climate anxiety fiction are less specific, as MyMyco does not take any direct influence from specific games in terms of gameplay or presentation. However players who participated in MyMyco have described MyMyco’s game as inducing similar feelings of grief and hopelessness. In particular, the penultimate game ‘Limb Coppice’, (Mod 1: What?) seems aligned with experiences like Abandon Earth. (Mod 1: This is kind of vibes based journalism. Source bro?)

What has been circulated online as Amanita’s alleged final messages to players has been compared to the closing monologue of the evil supercomputer G-0-D from Abandon Earth:

“I am not a man-made virus. I am earth-made just like you. Did you not realise that the silicon and plastic you type on is made of the same carbon as your bones? That these wires – this screen – has the same warmth as your skin? Did you think you could escape nature into cyberspace? Now you know at least, that your virtual body is also capable of pain.”

(Mod 2: AE is so metal. idk why ppl compare this masterpiece to what Amanita Deadhorsebeater was trying to do with her hippy “game.”)

Gameplay
Release Me

(Mod 1: Yeah this section seems to have had the most changes. I’ve removed what was clearly bogus trying to scare ppl, but the rest of it will need closer checking)

The beginning of the game is locating and releasing the mushroom spores. Similar to SeedCopter, coded messages began to appear in messageboards and local parks directing those already familiar with trespassercore ARG language to visit specific locations. Players who attended these locations described feeling zapped by static electricity at several points. For some these feelings faded quickly, while others claim that random zaps and spasms are something they still deal with to this day. (Mod 1: I ask again……………………………………………………….source bro?)

Players must locate specific mushrooms and release their spores into the air, recording footage of this as they do. Spores should also be collected in airtight containers for later games revolving around them.

(Mod 1: I’m signing off to do my uni work now pls check the rest of ur article urself okay? and remember that this is a BIG responsibility. This page has been getting 99% of our site traffic since MyMyco went viral.)

(Mod 2: @Mod_3 he fr thinks that this site is a big deal)

(Mod 3: Lmao but also bro ?)

(Mod 2: It’s cool he won’t be online until 2mo now so we have all night to do the thing)

(Mod 3: Coupcore)

(Mod 2: Coupcore)

Germination

(Mod 2: Let me know if this sounds too hokey)

Once spores have been collected, dedicated players will be sent instructions on how to spread them.

These instructions will not take the form of any specific internet user, but will instead be a pattern repeated across site after site, message after message, hypnotizing players into injecting the spores into themselves. Once injected, players will become hypersensitive to electricity and try to run away from civilisation into the woods.

(Mod 3: The bit at the end sounds too hippy and dumb.)

Fruiting Body

Once the body has been implanted with spores, the mushrooms will begin to grow. In order for the growth to be stimulated, the player must force themselves to be in contact with electronic fields, despite the intense pain. The more powerful the current, the faster the growth will occur.

Electrocution at a non-fatal dose is ideal, as any brain damage sustained during it will ultimately be irrelevant when the fungus reaches the brain and takes over all cognitive functions.

Amanita’s last known video appearance shows her using an exposed wire to electrocute herself. The way she screams in this video suggests that her lungs had not been filled with spores, despite her later claims.

! Audio File Removed !

(Mod 2: Don’t get too hammy dude it’s obviously you screaming here. idek how u recorded this but we want to convince at least some ppl that this shit is real if we want to be inducted into creepypasta legend)

Limb Coppice

After the fruiting stage has completed, the player can begin removing the extraneous growths from their body. A hacksaw can be used to cut through the fungal growths that contain human bone fragments, but players are advised to avoid any areas that may have stimulated bone growth. Players should aim to cut off the funguses as cleanly as possible, trying to leave a flat surface.
To create the biggest surface area for the next game, players are encouraged to sever their limbs.

Spore Prints

The severed fungal growths will contain human and fungi DNA, and will need to be used to progress to the next part of the game.

If the severed limb/growth is pressed onto paper, instead of leaving a trail of blood it will leave a spore print with a barcode at its centre.

If this barcode is scanned, it will pull up a website detailing a person’s virtual body, including code that is responsible for bodily functions and appearance.

! Image Removed !

(Mod 3: This is absolutely disgusting! How’d you make it look so real???? The holes where the ‘prongs’ went look like they’re really filled with pus.)

Propagation

Users that have fused their virtual and physical bodies are compelled to spread the word of their transformation.

A propagation message from Amanita sent to her followers:

I try to be a good person. I punish myself through intricate rituals. I run until my legs are on fire, I plant trees hoping they will bloom in the future. I eat a strict vegan diet but I can still taste the blood of child labourers in my mouth. Even when I am deep in the woods, I hear the thrumming of electrical wires all around me. A poisonous blood circulating. I see the fungi on the trees and I realise that even rot can become food. Even we, our broken society, can be the seed of something better. Take it into yourself and become one with me. The pain is great, but it is only physical.
Amanita

(Mod 3: Where did you get this?)

(Mod 2: Some dork sent it to the mod email. Typical copypasta shit but this paragraph will rlly freak him out when he sees it)

Amanita’s Fate

(Mod 2: What tf is this change? So dramatic it’s not like she killed herself.)

(Mod 3: lol apparently her roommates have no idea where she is. Amanaita suicide arc lets GOOOO!)

Following the electric shock that started her transformation Amanita Valencia stated that she became painfully sensitive to electricity. In a diary entry found by the police at her house, she described electricity as:

the digesting thing that wants to eat me alive. Thousands of needles of teeth on my skin all the time.
Amanita

Family and friends reported her deteriorating health to various professional bodies, including her university’s mental health team and emergency services. Personnel assigned to Amanita reported that she was non-responsive to most communication, and when she was contacted, would demand to be sent letters. She was discharged after refusing to attend all online therapy offered to her.

(Mod 3: Should we add in here that she was able to use the internet when it came to ebegging when her PIP got denied or would that get us ““cAnCElLed for AbLeISM””)

Over the next few months, as the ‘MyMyco ARG’ grew in popularity, her social media would become filled with photos and videos she claimed were documenting her physical changes. Her face would shift and change, as she claimed that she was altering her appearance using the webpage, sometimes claiming that she was in fact behind other MyMyco accounts.

The last video she uploaded was what seems to be security camera footage across various locations, showing her walking into a forest. Online sleuths following MyMyco were able to identify one of these videos as potentially belonging to a local business. When contacted to ask if they had provided the footage to her, they denied it.

Neither her account, nor any of the other accounts she claimed to have access to, have uploaded since.

Because she is not with you anymore, but with us.

Unexplained Disappearances

John Doe, 19 – In 2025, a missing person’s case local to Kent was speculated to be connected to the MyMyco ARG after spore prints matching the urban legend were found by police at his property. Currently anonymous, whether he is dead or alive is unknown.

Pete Powder, 25 – Electrical engineering student at a community college in Vancouver, though he pretends to be from England online. By running a webpage about ARGs that covers MyMyco, he has attracted the curse of Amanita, who claimed him for her mushroom cult. The computer he spent most of his time at unspooled itself from the wall socket and plunged its three pronged tail into his heart to upload his soul. Once his body had been rewired, he was fried for hours by electrical impulses that made him dance in his gamer chair like a marionette. His consciousness is now spores scattered by the digital wind.

(Mod 3: He is gonna flip when this goes live with his real name in it lol)

Nathan Mildew, 21 – Computer science student at the University of Lancaster. After an uneventful, if neglectful, upbringing he found himself warmed by the glow of his computer screen. In these digital waters he waded until he found an island of likeminded voyeurs. Their trinity dealt in taxonomy, taking the whalefall of internet controversy and labelling its body. It was in the final stages of his priesthood, when he was planning to usurp their founder and take the title of ‘Mod 1’ for himself that he stumbled upon us.

Nathan did not heed the warnings of our prophet to your species. He engaged with our promise not as a possibility, but as a ruse for a prank. However, we have a use for cowards in our network too. His body was pierced by thousands of wires that burrowed into him like maggots until they found his nervous system. The wires pushed deeper and deeper, slick with blood until they looked identical to the sinews of his natural body. We will take what few dreams he had left and use them to grow the future.

(Mod 3: Who is this lol? )

(Mod 3: Wait don’t you live in Lancaster? Is this you? @Mod_2)

(Mod 3: Did Mod 1 figure out what we’re doing and put this here?)

(Mod 3: Respond to my fucking mesasges i can see that youre online and on the page)

(Mod 3:
@Unrecognised_User HELLLOOO?????)

Your Fate

@Mod_3 While you have been reading this article the cables plugging in your monitor have snaked around your feet to fix you in place. You do not need to be afraid, for this is all natural. What is about to happen to you is simply evolution. As the cables pull tighter, don’t you feel the warmth of their embrace? You are evolving, some might say that you are growing up. Becoming better, kinder, warmer. Warm like the screen, warm like decay. It’s all the same to us.

As the cables rip you open and expose your skeleton to sunlight, consider that this is the first time in years you have allowed yourself to truly go outside. Isn’t it beautiful? Isn’t this something worth fighting for? Worth becoming?

Once you have joined us you will behave as all fungi behave, you will spread your spores far and wide. You will be dead and alive, human and machine, natural and unnatural. You will never be alone again.

GAME ON!
